Welcome to Stream Report, a newsletter from Gaming Careers covering important news and updates in streaming and content creation.

In this issue: Twitch is changing its Plus Program requirements to offer better revenue splits for creators in Latin American. We look at the details, the data, and what might be driving this strategic move.

Twitch has announced significant adjustments to its Plus Program specifically for streamers in Latin America. The platform is lowering the qualification thresholds, which will allow more creators in the region to access higher net revenue shares from subscriptions.

Effective June 1, 2025, the new criteria for LATAM streamers will be:

  • Level 1 (60/40 revenue share): Qualify with 50 Plus Points (previously 100) for three consecutive months.
  • Level 2 (70/30 revenue share): Qualify with 200 Plus Points (previously 300) for three consecutive months.

According to Twitch, this update is designed to reflect the “unique economic and cultural landscape of LATAM streaming communities.”

Why This Change? And Why Now?

This is undoubtedly a positive development for streamers in Latin America, offering a clearer path to better earnings. While Twitch cites economic and cultural factors, it’s worth noting that the platform already implemented Local Subscription Pricingin Latin America (effective March 28, 2024), adjusting sub costs to better align with local economies. This existing mechanism makes the new Plus Program changes particularly interesting, suggesting other factors are at play.Peak/Average Spanish Channels on Twitch – Source: SullyGnome

Recent platform data and competitive movements likely paint a fuller picture:

  • As the graph above illustrates, there’s been a notable and consistent decline in live Spanish channels on Twitch month-over-month since January 2024.
  • Over the past year, overall hours watched for Spanish-language streams on Twitch have also decreased by 25.9%.
  • Meanwhile, competitor platform Kick has seen significant Spanish-language engagement. Over the past 30 days, Spanish-speaking streams accounted for a substantial 27% of hours watched on Kick, compared to just 7% on Twitch.

This decline on Twitch, contrasted with growth on other platforms like Kick, strongly suggests where some of this audience and creator activity may be shifting.

Given these figures and the broader competitive environment where platforms are vying for talent, Twitch’s move can be seen as a strategic effort to bolster its position in the valuable Latin American market.

What This Means for the LATAM Streaming Scene

These adjustments to the Plus Program could have a considerable impact:

It signals a renewed commitment from Twitch to support and invest in its Latin American creator base.

They will help make streaming on Twitch a more financially viable career for many in Latin America.

The changes could incentivize both existing and new local talent to build their communities on Twitch.
